Roger Dale Houchin

Roger Dale Houchin, age 76, of Escondido, California departed this life on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Cypress Court Senior Living. The Edmonson County native was born on February 2, 1948 to the late Harry Hamilton and Una Tarter Houchin. He was married to his loving wife, Chun I. Houchin, who survives. 

Roger proudly served his country in the U.S Navy and Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, embodying values of bravery and commitment. After his military service, he pursued a fulfilling career as a technician for the United States Postal Service. He was also a member of Emmanuel Faith Church. 

A man of many interests, Roger had an insatiable curiosity about his ancestry. He found joy in delving into family history and genealogy, uncovering stories and connections that spanned generations. Additionally, he had a love for travel that took him to various destinations, and he cherished the adventures that came with exploring new places. Roger was also a devoted fan of Star Trek, sharing his enthusiasm for the series that captured the imaginations of so many.

Besides his wife, Chun, he leaves to honor his memory— a daughter and son, Esther Lee (Joaquin Quinonez) and Peter Lee (Laura Seda), as well as a granddaughter, Una Lee-Quinonez. Additionally, Roger is remembered fondly by his family who carry his spirit in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ronnie and Wayne Houchin and Yvonne Houchin Campbell.

Military honors will be conducted by the Nesbit Alexander Memorial Post #6937 VFW.
