Georgia Williams passed away January 30, 2025 one day shy of her 97th birthday. She was born in Humboldt, TN and spent most of her youth in Nashville, TN.
She met the love of her life at 13, married him at 16, and spent 74 years happily married to Del until his death in 2018.
Georgia spent years as a homemaker, and then went to work for Sears after her children entered high school. She worked both in advertising and personnel for Sears, until her retirement. After retirement, she and Del spent 31 years traveling between Bonita Springs, FL and their farm in Bowling Green, KY.
The first thing that everyone commented on was her smile. She lit up a room with her smile and her enthusiasm for life. She loved crafts, and spent hours making things from shells she gathered on the beach. She loved decorating her house for Christmas, and her handmade Christmas ornaments were remarkable. She loved to sing, and the time she spent singing with the Singing Seniors in Bowling Green was some of her most cherished. But most of all she loved people. She kept in contact with friends years after they moved away, she was the person to sit with you when you needed company, and she stopped and asked the homeless on the corner what their story was. If someone needed something, she was there to help. She cherished her granddaughter, and their adventures in chasing down Beanie Babies were some of her favorite stories.
An active church member her whole life, she most recently attended The Presbyterian Church of Bowling Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill Burkett and Lois Maness Burkett, as well as siblings James Burkett, Ruth Ralls and Joyce Sykes.
She is survived by her children, Anita Williams Shearer (Michael) of Hiseville, KY, and Michael Williams of Bonita Springs, FL, her granddaughter, Jeanne Shearer (Austin Allen) of Roskilde, Denmark and one brother, John Burkett, of Denver, CO.
Our special thanks to Chris, Misty, and Kelly for all your love and support.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. on Monday, February 3 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
