Helen Esther Shipman

Helen Esther Shipman, 76, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.  She was a daughter of the late Marcel and Pauline Esther Painter Miller.  She was in the women’s army corps from 1966 to 1969, rising to the rank of Specialist 4th Class.  She attended Basic WAC training at Fort McClellan, AL, Advanced training (Medical Corpsman) at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and was stationed for the remainder of her service at Presidio of San Francisco, CA. Her awards and decorations include National Defense Service Medal and the Cold War Medal.  Her memberships include Life Member DAV auxiliary, Life Member Moph auxiliary and Life Member American Legion.  She had BA degree for Theoretical Mathematics from Chaminade College of Hawaii.

She is survived by her husband Walter R. Shipman; they were married on August 16, 1968.  Two sons: Timothy Shipman and Michael Shipman; three grandchildren: Michael Shipman Jr., Alisha Shipman, and Jesse Shipman.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by brother: Raymond Miller.

Memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Friday, November 29, 2024 at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Family will receive friends after 1:00 pm Friday until time for services.
