Roy T. Clodfelter

Roy T. Clodfelter, 82, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, in Seale, Alabama.

He was born on August 20, 1942, at Dexter, MO., son of the late Max Clodfelter and Ruth Eleanor Bailey.

After graduating high school in 1960, Roy joined the United States Air Force as a Communications Center Specialist and served for eight years until being honorably discharged the year of 1968. During his time on active duty, he deployed in support of the Vietnam War in 1966 for two years. Upon discharge, Roy became a police officer for the Dexter, MO police department. At that time, Roy met his wife Melissa Kaye (Milford) Clodfelter, and they were married April 14, 1973. He then continued his service with the Kentucky State Police after graduating the Police Academy in 1973. He and his wife Melissa started their family and had three children Wade, Jenifer, and Max. Roy retired from the Kentucky State Police in 1995 and served honorably for 22 years. He then began working for the Grayson County Sheriff department from 1997 to 2001 and later joined the Leitchfield Police Department; he then officially retired in 2004. He and his wife moved to Lake City, Florida and resided there for 19 years. Not until recently, they decided to move to Seale, AL in 2023.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Kaye Clodfelter of Seale, AL; daughter Jenifer Ruth Shyers and her husband Daniel Clayton Shyers of Seale, AL; son, Max Clodfelter and his wife Christy Clodfelter of North Port, AL; and grandchildren, Keegan, Michael, Christopher, Leo, and Dalton.

Also, preceding him in his passing are his father, Max Clodfelter; mother, Ruth Eleanor Bailey; one sister, Mary Ruth Perkins; one son, Christopher Wade Clodfelter; and one grandson, Andrew Clifton Clodfelter.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 14, 2024, at the Dermitt Funeral Home at 306 West Main St. Leitchfield, KY 42754 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Memorial Services will follow. Todd Milford, Associate Pastor of Parkway Baptist Church will be officiating.
