Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announced that action by the Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Unit resulted in the conviction of Jonathan Edward Adams, 52, of Fayette County, for the possession and attempted distribution of child sex abuse material.

Following a cyber tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), the Lexington Police Department searched Adams’ electronic devices and found child sex abuse material.

On December 20, 2024, Adams pleaded guilty to one count of Possession of Matter Portraying Sexual Performance by a Minor (Class D Felony) and one count of Attempted Distribution of Matter Portraying Sexual Performance by a Minor (Class A Misdemeanor). He will be sentenced for a total of five years. The Commonwealth opposes probation.

As a condition of the guilty plea, Adams will be required to complete a sex offender treatment program and will be a 20-year registrant on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry. He will be sentenced on March 20, 2025.

“Protecting Kentucky’s children is one of our most important responsibilities as parents and as prosecutors,” said Attorney General Coleman. “I’m grateful for the collaboration among our partners that has put this predator behind bars.”

The Lexington Police Department investigated the case. Assistant Attorney General Amanda Morgan prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
