The National Weather Service in Louisville has placed Barren County in a wind advisory from 4 p.m. on Friday, March 14 to 7 p.m. the Saturday.

“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects [and] Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” the service states. “Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.”

A wind advisory means that “sustained, strong winds” are occurring in the area and a person should secure outdoor items. An advisory is not as immediate as a high wind warning, which, according to the service, means “Sustained, strong winds with even stronger gusts are happening [and] if [a person is] driving, [they should] keep both hands on the wheels and slow down.”

At the time of publication, rain showers are predicted from tonight until Sunday with a 100 percent chance of precipitation tomorrow, March 15.
