Mr. Gary Edward Gearlds, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his home. Gary was born in Gamaliel on February 4, 1953, the son of the late William “Stack” Edward and Vivian Arlene (Proffitt) Gearlds. He was a 1970 graduate of Tompkinsville High School. Gary was a member of Mt. Hermon Community Club, and enjoyed playing guitar, fiddle, and the banjo, in the Southern Tradition Band.
He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Edward Gearlds and wife Sarah, and Adam Scott Gearlds and wife Michelle. Three sisters, Diana Jewell, Denise Long and husband Dennis, Debbie Murray and husband Charles, and one brother, Michael Gearlds and wife Linda. His grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, and Ashton Gearlds, Nicole and Jardeth Botts, and Emily and Braxton Gearlds also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Kevin D. Gearlds.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Brian Fox will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Sunday morning after 9:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m.
