RECAP: Trojanettes win two in Tennessee

The Barren County Trojanettes swung into spring break action in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. with a pair of wins.

The Trojanettes whipped Washington County on Thursday morning 19-0, then beat Pendelton County, 13-4, Thursday afternoon.

Against Washington, Barren opened with seven runs in the first inning. Katie Elmore drew a walk to lead off. She stole second before Gracie Myatt drove her in with a single. Myatt moved to second on a throw home.

Myatt moved other third on a passed ball before Norah Shirley drove her in with a single. Shirley stole second before Lizzie Smith drove her in with a single. Smith took second on a throw home.

Smith took third on a passed ball, then scored on a passed ball before Briley Aidala nailed a triple. Audrey Jones entered to run for Aidala. Shea Bogue followed with an inside the park home run.

Abby Elmore followed Bogue’s inside the park homer with her own inside the park homer to give Barren a 7-0 lead.

The Trojanettes added 10 more runs in the second inning and two in the third to end the game.

Myatt, Shirley, Smith, Aidala, Bogue, Abby Elmore and Katie Elmore each had two hits in the game.

Bogue and Adley Cunningham each pitched in the game, allowed one hit and struck out six.

Barren 13, Pendelton 4

In the second game of the day, the Trojanettes scored runs throughout the game. They posted two in the first, two in the third, two in the fourth, two in the sixth, and three in the seventh.

In the top of the first Barren scored both runs with two outs. Myatt reached base with a single, then moved to second on a single by Smith. Aidala drew a walk to load the bases. Bogue drove in both Myatt and Smith with a single.

The Trojanettes took a 4-0 lead in the top of the third before Pendleton scored two runs in the bottom of the inning. They built their lead to 8-2 in the top of the fifth with an inside the park home run by Lily Elmore that also drove in Abby Elmore.

Barren was up 10-4 in the top of the seventh when Shirley drove in three runs with a triple. Kyra Moore, Katie Elmore and Jones scored on the hit.

Against Pendleton, Myatt and Smith each had three hits, while Katie Elmore and Lily Elmore each nailed two hits. Aidala, Bogue, Abby Elmore, Josey Moore and Kyra Moore each had a hit.

Bogue pitched six innings, allowed four hits and struck out nine. Cunningham closed the final inning.
