J.R. Hunt, 84, of Mount Hermon, KY passed away Tuesday, August 11th, at his home.
J.R. was born in Monroe County, KY, on November 7, 1935, a son of the late Velma (Thomas) Hunt Bowles and Clarence Ray Hunt.
On June 25, 1958, he married the love of his life, Doris Clay Hunt, who survives of Mt. Hermon, KY.
He was retired from a lifetime of farming and various construction work. He was a member of H.A.M. Henderson #515 Masonic Lodge at Bethlehem. He was a member of Dover Missionary Baptist Church.
Other than his wife of 62 years, Doris Hunt, he is survived by two daughters, Vivian Key, and husband, Bobby, of Tracy, KY; Jerri Rowland, and husband, Bart, of Tompkinsville, KY; two sons Jeff Hunt, of Glasgow, KY and Clay Hunt, and wife, Jan, of Mt. Hermon, KY; six grandchildren, Darci Key, and husband Matt, Jessica and Haley Hunt, Thomas, Jay Cooper and Cariana Rowland; six great grandchildren, Blaye, Raylie, Rosie, Isabella, Gage and Adam.
J.R. is also survived by a sister, Louise Barbour, and husband, Erroll, of Summer Shade, KY; a half brother, Barry Bowles, and wife, Karen, of Summer Shade, KY, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a half brother, Bruce Bowles, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hunt.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 15th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY.
Visitation is Friday, August 14th, from 4-8 PM, with Masonic services starting at 7:00 PM. and again Saturday morning after 8:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM.
Burial is in Bethlehem Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Hosparus Health of Barren River or Bethlehem Cemetery.
