Interstate 65
A project to rehabilitate and resurface a section of Interstate 65 in Warren County has largely wrapped up. There is some minor work going on until the end of next week, but the major traffic impacts are finished. The rehabilitation and surfacing of I-65 in both directions addressed pavement issues from the 13 mile marker to the 26 mile marker.
Interstate 165
- A project to upgrade the Interstate 165 interchange with U.S. 231 Morgantown Road at Exit 7 in Bowling Green has started. Motorists have been switched to the new ramp to I-165 northbound and I-165 southbound. The improvements to the interchange are part of the I-65 Spur requirements that upgraded the William H. Natcher Expressway to I-165 William H. Natcher Expressway in 2019. The current ramps were designed in a cloverleaf formation that serviced the old tollbooth plaza that no longer exist. Traffic is expected to be switched onto two more of the newly constructed ramps soon. More information will be released when known. Please use caution in the area.
- U.S. 231 Exit 33 – A project to upgrade the Interstate 165 interchange with U.S. 231 Beaver Dam Road in Butler County has started. The project will address the ramps, bridge deck and lighting at the interchange. The improvements to the interchange are part of the I-65 Spur requirements that upgraded the William H. Natcher Expressway to I-165 William H. Natcher Expressway in 2019. Motorists should expect lane closures and lane shifts that will take place at different times throughout the construction process. The project is expected to be completed in summer of 2022.
Allen County
- KY 100 West (mile points 0.0 – 8.8) – A Highway Safety Improvement Project is expected to continue. The project includes pavement rehabilitation, resurfacing, improvements to drainage structures, shoulders and ditches. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October.
- Max Roark Road (Road mile point 0.005) – The new bridge on Max Roark Road has opened. The old bridge had been closed for more than a year. Contractor will still be performing finishing work the next few weeks so traffic should expect flagging and workers onsite until this work is completed in October.
- KY 1421 (mile points 0.0 to 3.4) – A project to replace culverts along these route as well as resurface the roadway is expected to start this week. Motorists should expect flaggers along the route. The project is expected to be completed in late November.
- KY 2160 (mile points 5 to 7) – A project to replace culverts along these route as well as resurface the roadway continues. Motorists should expect flaggers along the route. The project is expected to be completed in late November.
Barren County
- KY 63 Tompkinsville Road (mile points 6.3 – 13.2) – A safety enhancement project continues on Tompkinsville Road from Happy Hollow Road then extending north to the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway overpass. This project will improve roadside features, extend roadway culverts and realign the reverse curves between Fox Trail and the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway. The section between Fox Trail and the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway is closed to through traffic.
A signed detour is in place along Siloam Road, KY 90, and Lenna Drive. This closure is expected to remain in place until mid November. In addition to the closure, work is expected to begin on another culvert extension (mile point 9.6) just south of Morrison Park Road. Work on this culvert will require a lane closure to remain in place for approximately two weeks. During the work on the culvert a single lane for traffic will be maintained by a temporary signal.
- KY 740 Coral Hill Road (mile points 0.0 to 7.5) – A pavement repair and resurfacing project has started on Coral Hill Road beginning from U.S. 68 and extending north to KY 70. Crews will begin with pavement repairs and pipe replacements. The roadway will be resurfaced when the repair portion of the project is finished. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
- KY 314 Center Road (mile points 0.0 – 2.3) – A resurfacing project continues on KY 314 Center Road beginning from KY 70 and extending north to the Metcalfe County line. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
- KY 1318 Tobacco Road (mile points 6.4 – 7.8) – A resurfacing project is expected to begin on KY 1318 Tobacco Road beginning from Matthews Mill Road and extending east to Oil Well Road. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
- US 68-80 Edmonton Road (mile points 15.9 – 16.9) – A resurfacing project continues on Edmonton Road beginning from KY 740 and extending east to Lecta Salem Road. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
Butler County
- KY 3182 (from KY 79 to U.S. 231) – Motorists should expect lane closures along the route for resurfacing.
Edmonson County
- KY 728 Nolin Dam Road (mile point 3.3) – A slide repair project continues on Nolin Dam Road east of Math Minton Road. Once the slide repairs have been made, crews will repair the damaged asphalt pavement. Motorists should expect shoulder closures and occasional flagging as equipment work near the traveled way.
- KY 238 Sunfish Bee Spring Road (mile point 9.3 and 9.9) – A slide repair project has temporarily closed a section of KY 238. The work has progressed to the second slide repair location and the closure will now be west of W. Vincent Road (9.9). The repair area east of Duvall Cemetery Road (9.3) will be open to local traffic only. The road is expected to open to traffic the last week of September. A signed detour using KY259, KY 70, and KY 187 is in place. Motorists should allow extra time to get to their destination.
Metcalfe County
- KY 218 Crail Hope Road (mile point 0.0 to 3.5) – A pavement repair and resurfacing project will close a section of Crail Hope Road in Metcalfe County beginning Monday, September the 20th. The closure is expected to last until early October so crews can replace a culvert pipe. The work is part of a resurfacing project beginning from the Hart/Metcalfe County line and extending east to the Metcalfe/Green County line. A signed detour will be in place utilizing Center 3 Springs Road and Atwell Road. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the remaining section of highway encompassed by this work zone.
Monroe County
- KY 63 (mile points 9 to 11.5) – Crews will be working on a resurfacing project that includes sidewalk ramp replacements, pavement failure repairs, asphalt milling and asphalt paving. Motorists should expect lane closures and flaggers. Milling and paving operations are expected to start Sunday, Oct. 3 through the city limits of Tompkinsville from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the week. Parking along S Main Street and West Fourth Street will need to clear of parked vehicles for those times. Completion is expected by the middle of November.
Warren County
- U.S. 231 Scottsville Road (mile point 3 – 6) – A Highway Safety Improvement Project to address multiple intersections on U.S. 231 Scottsville Road in the Alvaton corridor continues. Some intersections will be reconstruction as Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) intersections. Other intersections will see other improvements. Lane closures and reduced speed limit to 55 mph is in place.
- Project phase has transitioned to median of the roadway. Left lane and shoulder closures will be in place for the next few weeks. Right shoulder closures may be in place sporadically until the end of the project. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
- U.S. 68 Glasgow Road (mile point 20 – 28) – A Highway Safety Improvement Project has started between the I-65 overpass to the Barren County line. There are five spots along with corridor that will have shoulder improvements and slope improvements to improve safety in this section. Lane closures can be expected between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in this section. The project is expected to be complete before the end of the year.
- KY 234 – Slope work and shoulder widening from Hunts Lane to the Allen County line continues. Lane closures are expected. Please slow down and use caution. This project is expected to be completed by the end of September.
- U.S. 231 Scottsville Road – Work on a project to improve the U.S. 231 Scottsville corridor between the Greenwood Mall entrance at Bryant Way and KY 884 Three Springs Road has largely wrapped up. There is still some minor work going on, but the major impacts are completed.
- KY 1435 (mile points 14-7) – A preventive maintenance project from the Butler County line to mile point 7 has started. Motorists should expect lane closures and flaggers.
- U.S. 68 Russellville Road (mile points 6 to 8) – A project to resurface U.S. 68 Russellville Road has started. Crews have been working on the median area. Milling and paving are expected to start next week. Lane closures will be in place. Please use caution.
