NEW CASTLE, Ky. – Kentucky State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash in northern Kentucky that killed a Kentucky State Police employee.
According to a news release, 62-year-old Mary “Renee” McCoy of Bedford was driving along Highway 146 in New Castle when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a tree. Police say McCoy was driving her personal vehicle and was wearing a seat belt.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. According to police, no other vehicles or people were involved in the crash.
KSP says McCoy had worked for the agency over 22 years as a telecommunicator and drivers test administrator.
KSP Commissioner Rick Sanders said, “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss. Renee’s twenty years of dedicated service to this agency impacted not only the lives of troopers she supported but also the citizens of the Commonwealth.”
