It is unclear how the blaze began, but no injuries have been reported at this time.
On the morning of Sunday, August 11, a coordinated effort by multiple emergency agencies was required to contain a fire that engulfed a tractor-trailer on Interstate 165 in Butler County.
The Fourth District Fire Department reported that at approximately 5:52 a.m., they were alerted to a tractor-trailer fire at mile marker 24, northbound. Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered that both lanes of the highway had to be closed to ensure safety as they worked to control the blaze.
The fire had completely consumed the trailer, which was transporting a load of chicken and turkey, according to fire officials.
In response, fire departments from Morgantown, Fourth District, Fifth District, and Rochester quickly mobilized, deploying lines to combat the flames. The extensive efforts to extinguish the fire kept units on the scene until 11:20 a.m.
The operation also saw collaboration from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, emergency management, and the Morgantown Police Department, all of whom provided critical support during the incident.
